Soccer fans were furious as the World Cup final threatened to be derailed by a wild and lengthy halftime show on Sunday as complaints grew over the quality of the field for Spain and Argentina to play on. Madonna and a low-energy Justin Bieber headlined the show at the halftime interval as soccer's showpiece game was given the Super Bowl treatment at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. But the game itself had already been threatened with being overshadowed by the patchy field.
