£72million striker Benjamin Sesko has been under fire from United's all time top goal scorer‚ Wayne Rooney‚ for sitting out the club's 1-1 draw away at Fulham with a shin injury. Rooney took to his podcast‚ Stick to United‚ with Mark Goldbridge‚ to voice his displeasure with Sesko's absence from Sunday's game.
CHRIS WHEELER: Slovenia manager Bostjan Cesar has raised concerns over Benjamin Sesko's continued absence from his national team as the Manchester United striker once again finds himself at the centre of club versus country tensions.
Manchester United have the bragging rights over bitter rivals Liverpool after a 3-2 victory at Old Trafford on Sunday to complete a Premier League double this season. Matheus Cunha and Benjamin Sesko gave the Red Devils a 2-0 lead at half-time before Dominik Szoboszlai and Cody Gakpo levelled for the visitors. However‚ academy graduate Kobbie Mainoo scored the winner for the hosts with a fine side-footed finish to confirm Michael Carrick's side Champions League for next season. Daily Mail Sport's CHRIS WHEELER (Manchester United) and LEWIS STEELE (Liverpool) were at the match to provide their player ratings.
IAN LADYMAN AT OLD TRAFFORD: Maybe it was actually sweeter for Manchester United to win this way. To give their great rivals some hope and then snatch it away from them again. Michael Carrick and his United team are back in the Champions League and this was quite some way to do it. Fifteen minutes in and United were two goals up and rampant. Liverpool scored seven at Anfield against Erik ten Hag's version of United back in 2023 and‚ after those early goals from Matheus Cunha and then Benjamin Sesko‚ Carrick's players must have sniffed some kind of ultimate payback.

While Ronaldo is by far the bigger name - one of global phenomenon as more than just a footballer - Fernandes is now equal. Equal in terms of on-field success at United by the way of goal contributions. His assist for Benjamin Sesko against Everton on Monday night saw Fernandes clock his 140th goal or assist or the club in the Premier League ‚ which is the same as Ronaldo. And‚ perhaps surprisingly‚ he did it in 10 fewer games‚ and will now almost certainly fly past his international colleague. But who is the bigger United legend? How do the two careers - albeit of difference lengths - compare? Daily Mail Sport takes a closer look.
