Arsenal have been crowned Premier League champions‚ ending a 22-year wait for the English title since the Invincibles team of 2004. Manchester City drew 1-1 with Bournemouth on Tuesday night‚ giving the Gunners an unassailable lead at the top of the table after they beat Burnley on Tuesday. Mikel Arteta's men have been runners-up in each of the last three seasons but finally overcame Pep Guardiola's team to be able to call themselves Kings of England.
After a weekend of controversial refereeing decisions‚ it seems Arsenal may have been given a helping hand of their own. In their crunch clash against Burnley - a game in which their 1-0 victory moved them within touching distance of a first Premier League title in more than two decades - they were let off the hook when Kai Havertz brought down Lesley Ugochukwu just as the visitors were launching a counterattack.
OLIVER HOLT AT THE EMIRATES: And then there was one. Just one more obstacle for Arsenal. Just one more ordeal. Just one more river to cross. Crystal Palace await in south London on Sunday afternoon and if Arsenal win there‚ the Premier League title will be theirs. It does not matter what Manchester City do against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium on Tuesday evening. It does not matter what they do against Aston Villa on Sunday at the Etihad. If Arsenal hold their nerve one last time at Selhurst Park‚ the title will be theirs. They only scraped past relegated Burnley at the Emirates. They crawled over the line courtesy of a majestic first half header from Kai Havertz from a Bukayo Saka corner. Maybe some will call them Set Piece FC again but they will not care about that.
AND NOW YOU'RE GUNNER BELIEVE US! Havertz header sees Nervy Arsenal beat Burnley to move within one game of first Premier League title for 22 years
The star is set to miss the remainder of Arsenal's season with a ligament injury in his right knee. He is believed to have suffered medial collateral ligament damage and would therefore miss Premier League games against Burnley and Crystal Palace before the Champions League final against Paris Saint-Germain. It leaves the Gunners with a problem ahead of a history-defining few weeks in May. Jurrien Timber has also been injured.

Midfielder Silva will depart City after nine years in the summer‚ and the likes of Phil Foden‚ alongside wife Rebecca Cooke‚ were present to say goodbye to the club captain and defender Stones‚ who joined in 2016. Former Man City skipper Kyle Walker‚ who played for the club between 2017 and 2025 before leaving for relegated Burnley‚ was also present‚ though didn't appear to have partner Annie Kilner with him.
Monday night was why Pep Guardiola had been railing against the idea that Manchester City's experience would prove the defining element of this title race. Thirteen minutes of madness. Thirteen minutes when the calm heads went wandering off elsewhere. The past is the past‚ City's boss always says‚ and that they have hauled in Premier League leaders in such dramatic circumstances before offered no guarantee that history would repeat itself with half a new team not in possession of the muscle memory many presume is at their disposal on tap. Monday's troubles on the banks of the Mersey had felt somewhat signposted over the past fortnight. Requiring a late comeback to edge out Southampton at Wembley and before that‚ only grinding out a one-goal win over doomed Burnley. For whatever reason‚ the rhythm was not quite flowing in the way it had through the first half of April.
Burnley have confirmed Scott Parker's departure with immediate effect following their relegation from the Premier League. 'Scott Parker has left his position as Head Coach of Burnley Football Club by mutual consent‚' a club statement read. 'Following confirmation of the Club's relegation from the Premier League last week‚ Parker and the Board held discussions and mutually agreed that his time at Turf Moor would conclude.
