Liverpool have gone ‘full Woodward on meth' but fans are optimistic

Van der Sar: Woodward wanted me back at Man Utd

Edwin van der Sar has revealed he held two rounds of talks with Ed Woodward about joining Man United in an executive role. The club's legendary Dutch goalkeeper‚ 55‚ was most recently chief executive at Ajax but could have joined his old Premier League side. Speaking on The Overlap‚ brought to you by Sky Bet‚ he said: 'Yes‚ I spoke to Ed Woodward twice about taking up a role at Manchester United‚ but at that point‚ I didn't think my job was finished at Ajax with the path we were going on - we were not there yet.

Man United could move for Louis van Gaal's dream signing 10 years after Ed Woodward failed

Wayne Rooney has hit out at Manchester United's recruitment pre-Ineos‚ labelling it as 'horrendous' in a damning assessment and highlighting three transfers in particular as 'mistakes'. Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos delegate took over football operations of the Red Devils almost two years ago when they acquired an initial 25 per cent stake in the club from the Glazer family. Before that period‚ football operations had largely been controlled by former executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward - who was in that role from 2012-2021.
