Bentancur had only been on the pitch for 12 minutes as a second-half substitute‚ but lost his cool in the 78th minute when he lashed out at Shaw and was given his marching orders. He appeared to put a high tackle in on the left back‚ who was left fuming and chased his opponent down before pushing him to the ground. Bentancur responded by rushing to his feet and headbutting Shaw‚ resulting in a brawl between the players.

SIMON JONES: As reported‚ Hall has been on United's radar this summer as it is clear they need to strengthen that position with Luke Shaw‚ now 31‚ in the final year of his contract while youngster Harry Amass has been told he may be best leaving for first team football. Hall‚ 21‚ has three years left on his current contract‚ and would require a substantial fee with Newcastle looking to stabilise with Matthias Jaissle now in place.

CHRIS WHEELER: Bryan Mbeumo scored twice as Manchester United beat Atletico Madrid in the Strawberry Arena in Stockholm to win the Snapdragon Cup. Michael Carrick's side fell behind in the fifth minute when a cross from Arnau Ortiz crept inside Tom Heaton's left-hand post‚ and United were unlucky to still be a goal down at half-time after Jan Oblak saved from Luke Shaw and Amad Diallo‚ who was making his first appearance since playing for Ivory Coast at the World Cup. But Mbeumo scored a deserved equaliser and then a winner.

England boss Thomas Tuchel says the England squad he is taking to the World Cup are those who are 'unselfish' and '100 per cent committed' rather than the most-talented footballers - in an apparent shot at those who will be left at home. Tuchel named his 26-man squad to take to the United States today‚ confirming the high-profile omissions in a squad that was leaked on Thursday night: Leaving Harry Maguire‚ Trent Alexander-Arnold‚ Phil Foden‚ Cole Palmer‚ Lewis Hall and Luke Shaw at home. Those moves have been met by anger from some England fans - and Maguire's family. His mum said she was 'absolutely disgusted' and wife Fern says he is 'up against a single opinion'.

Harry Maguire has not been picked in the England squad for this summer's World Cup by manager Thomas Tuchel‚ with the stalwart's mum branding the decision as 'disgraceful'. Tuchel names his 26-man squad for the tournament tomorrow morning - and Maguire is not on his list. Nor‚ we understand‚ is his Manchester United team-mate Luke Shaw. Manchester City's Phil Foden is also set to miss out.
