Ronaldo missed three matches on his strike after reportedly being furious at their lack of spending on transfers compared to their rivals. That frustration only grew deeper when Al-Nassr's title rivals Al-Hilal were allowed to sign his old Real Madrid team-mate Karim Benzema from Al-Ittihad.

Nunez‚ who joined the Reds for £85million in the summer of 2022‚ had a hard time at the club before departing at the end of last season for Al-Hilal. He left for £46million‚ with a number of Liverpool fans seemingly happy to recoup the fee. Nunez scored 40 times in 143 games during his Anfield career‚ and was part of the squad that won the Premier League last season. In Saudi Arabia‚ Nunez has scored seven goals in 23 games for the Pro League leaders‚ but will now find opportunities more limited following the arrival of a new star.
