ALEX JENNINGS: Talk to people in football about Davide‚ son of Carlo‚ and their responses might as well be about his dad. Amiable. Unflappable. Intelligent. Tactically flexible. Good man-manager. Tale padre‚ tale figlio‚ as they say in Milan. Like father‚ like son. Where Davide diverges from Carlo is a lack of experience - more specifically the absence of a trophy cabinet full to the point of bursting. While Carlo has won the European Cup seven times as a player and manager‚ the younger Ancelotti will be managing in just his second game in the competition at Arsenal's Emirates Stadium on Tuesday night. Work to do‚ too‚ after his Champions League debut saw his Lille side twice blow a lead at home to Real Betis.

SIMON JONES: Manchester City are close to concluding talks for Lille's £85million-rated midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi as Barcelona press to sign Rodri. Bouaddi‚ the 18-year-old Morocco international‚ started on the bench for Lille in their friendly at Everton on Saturday and coach Davide Ancelotti confirmed negotiations. Lille have been fighting to keep the midfielder for one more season‚ but City and the player want to seal a move now‚ which is expected to come at a premium.

KIERAN GILL AT THE ACCOR STADIUM IN SYDNEY: The 24-year-old was surprisingly ignored by Ancelotti in this summer‚ and in a friendly win over Western Sydney Wanderers‚ he replaced Liam Delap while his side were trailing 3-2.

SCOTLAND 0-3 BRAZIL - RIATH AL-SAMARRAI AT MIAMI STADIUM: If Steve Clarke's worst fear was a drubbing‚ then he ought to avoid seeking anything positive from the fact Scotland suffered a mere 3-0 defeat in Miami. That Brazil didn't score more is something akin to a World Cup miracle. They battered Scotland‚ dragging them from pillar to post in a tie that often looked an utter mismatch and concluded with Clarke sweating profusely over progression to the knockout stages. But he will know how much worse it might have been‚ with two strikes from Vinicius Jr and a third by Matheus Cunha the very least that Brazil deserved on the night. Of the 21 chances that went to Carlo Ancelotti's side‚ as many as five or six might have gone in on another occasion‚ which says as much for the talent in the Brazilian attack as it did the Scottish inability to cover their backsides.
